Where No Man Has Gone Before…”

“Where No Man Has Gone Before…”

In this case, the above statement is totally inaccurate. Lots of men have gone to this particular place, and lots of women and children too. But, it was a new one for me, and I’ve been thinking about CAPT. James T. Kirk a lot lately because I’m not so sure how long Williams Shatner is going to be around.

But, what is the strange new world that I speak of? Drone photography and videography. I took the test for the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification yesterday…and passed. Given my background, I would have REALLY been embarrassed not to pass, but I did.

The significance of this is that I plan to add a completely new genre of service to Kitsap businesses: aerial photography and videography. I think when most folks hear “drone photography”, their minds go immediately to real estate photography, and that’s definitely something I plan to push into (in fact, I’m really interested in Real Estate / Architecture / Design) but it’s more. I see this as a GREAT way to add impact to lots of different business’ imagery and branding. Can you imagine having aerial footage of a guide service CAPT. gliding across the sound? How about some overhead shots of outdoor seating at a cool restaurant? How about a nursery?

Anyway, I hope to be able to offer these services to commercial clients in the South Kitsap, Port Orchard, Bremerton, Silverdale, Poulsbo, Port Gamble, Kingston, and Bainbridge Island areas beginning in June. I will NOT be the guy wearing the red uniform though. ;)

(Statistics show that the first guy to die in any Star Trek landing party, was the guy wearing the red uniform.)
